Burleigh Waters & Gold Coast

Trusted Burleigh Waters Electrician

Burleigh Waters is where a lot of Gold Coast families put down roots. The blocks are generous, the streets are quiet, and much of the housing is low-set brick from the 1970s through to the 1990s.

It is also one of the most renovated suburbs on the coast. Walls come out, kitchens move, second storeys go on, and the electrical system has to keep up with all of it.

Blue Ridge Electrical works with Burleigh Waters owners and their builders on renovations large and small, and handles the everyday repairs in between.

We are around 30 minutes away in Bilambil Heights. Every quote is fixed and given before work begins.

We repair faulty circuits, switches, outlets and fittings, and we explain what caused the problem so it is less likely to return.

Switchboards Upgrade icon

An open-plan renovation with induction cooking and ducted air needs more than a forty year old board can give. We install switchboards sized for the finished house.

Ceiling Fan icon

Fans for bedrooms, living spaces and alfresco areas. We can run new wiring through a tiled roof space so a fan goes where there was only a light.

Exhaust Fans

New ensuite or laundry? We fit exhaust fans and combination heat, light and fan units, vented to the outside.

Moving the kitchen or adding a second storey means new cabling. We plan the layout with you and your builder before any walls are closed.

Power Points icon

Plenty of outlets, in the right places, on enough circuits. It sounds simple, and it is one of the things people value most after a renovation.

Local Electrician In Burleigh Waters

Burleigh Waters lies inland from Burleigh Heads, spread around a network of canals and lakes. Our drive from Bilambil Heights is about half an hour.

Most homes were built over roughly three decades from the early 1970s. They are solid, single-level houses on blocks large enough to extend, which is exactly why so many are being renovated instead of replaced. The original electrical design was modest: a small switchboard, a couple of power circuits and a single light in each room.

A modern renovation asks far more. Stone-topped kitchens with induction cooktops and multiple ovens, ducted air conditioning, heated pools, home offices and car chargers can easily double or triple the demand. In many cases the cable from the street and the main switch need upgrading along with the board.

Along the canals and lake edges, outdoor electrics are a constant. Pontoon power, boat lifts, pool equipment and landscape lighting all operate in damp conditions. We give each its own protected circuit and use enclosures and fittings with a proper weather rating.

The suburb also has a number of villa and retirement complexes. For those residents we focus on dependable lighting, easily reached outlets and alarm systems that do not rely on someone climbing a ladder to change a battery.

Burleigh Waters Homes and the Queensland Smoke Alarm Deadline

Long-term owners are the ones affected now. Queensland’s interconnected smoke alarm rules have applied to sold and rented homes since 2022. The final stage, on 1 January 2027, brings in every other home. In a suburb with as many long-term owner-occupiers as Burleigh Waters, that is a lot of households. You will need a photoelectric alarm in each bedroom, in hallways between bedrooms and living areas and on each level, all linked together.

Renovating? Bring the safety switches up to date as well. Any new circuit we install is protected by a safety switch as a matter of course. During a renovation it makes sense to extend that protection to the existing circuits too, so the whole house is covered and not only the new part. Pool, spa and pontoon circuits should each have their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

About 30 minutes by road from Bilambil Heights. We work on the southern and central Gold Coast regularly.

Very likely, if the house still has its original board. Induction cooktops, ducted air conditioning and car chargers each need their own circuit and together they can exceed what an older board and supply were designed for. We calculate the load and tell you what is required.

As early as possible, ideally while plans are still being drawn. Outlet positions, lighting layouts and switchboard location are far cheaper to settle on paper than after the plasterboard is up.

Yes. We run a dedicated, safety switch protected circuit to the water’s edge using cable and fittings suited to the conditions, and we install isolators where they can be reached easily.

Yes. From 1 January 2027 they apply to all Queensland homes regardless of how long you have owned them. Bedrooms, connecting hallways and every level need interconnected photoelectric alarms.

Yes. We run new cabling through the roof space, cut in the downlights and change the switching to suit. In most single-storey homes this is completed in a day with very little mess.

We do. A home charger needs a dedicated circuit and enough capacity at the switchboard. We check both and install the unit in the garage or carport.

Yes. We quote a fixed price in writing after seeing the job. If you add to the scope later, we price the addition before going ahead.

Yes, and in New South Wales. We are also fully insured.

Yes. We extend from the main switchboard to a new sub-board upstairs, which keeps cable runs short and gives the new level its own circuits and safety switches.

We do. Barbecues, bar fridges, pizza ovens and range hoods each have their own requirements, and we install weatherproof outlets and task lighting on a dedicated circuit.
