Trusted Elanora Electrician
Elanora is a suburb people settle into. Many of its brick and tile homes went up in the 1980s and early 90s, and plenty are still owned by the families who built them or are being updated by new ones.
Electrically, a house of that age is at a turning point. The original switchboard, smoke alarms and light fittings have done their time, and the way we use power has changed completely.
Blue Ridge Electrical brings those homes up to date, one job or one stage at a time, and looks after shops and offices around The Pines.
We travel up from Bilambil Heights, about 25 minutes away, and price every job upfront.

Electrical Services Elanora

Tripping breakers, buzzing switches, outlets that have stopped working. Tell us what you have noticed and we will trace it and repair it.

Boards from the eighties rarely have a safety switch on every circuit. We replace them with a layout that protects each one and leaves space for what comes next.

Ceiling fans in every bedroom make Queensland summers easier on the power bill. We fit quiet DC models with remotes and remove old wobbly ones.

Renovating the bathroom? We install exhaust fans, heat lamps and heated towel rails, wired and switched the way you want them.

Replace dated oyster lights and fluorescent tubes with slim LED fittings. Dimmers in living areas and bedrooms give you control of the mood.

Smart lighting, remote garage doors and energy monitors that show where your power goes. We help you choose gear that is worth having.

Extensions, enclosed patios and garage conversions all need new circuits. We wire them to current standards and tie them back to the switchboard neatly.

Kitchens from thirty years ago had a handful of outlets. We add double points along the bench, in the pantry and on the island.

Original nine volt alarms are long past their use-by date. We replace them with interconnected photoelectric units in each bedroom and hallway.

Local Electrician In Elanora
Elanora stretches from the Gold Coast Highway back into the hills between Currumbin and Tallebudgera creeks. It is around 25 minutes from our base in Bilambil Heights.
Most of the suburb was developed between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s, so the housing is remarkably consistent: brick veneer, tiled roof, often a pool in the backyard. So are the electrical issues. Switchboards from that period commonly have a single safety switch covering the power points and nothing on the lights, stove, hot water or pool.
These homes are now on their second or third round of renovation. Each new kitchen, air conditioner and outdoor entertaining area adds load to a board that was never meant to carry it. When we are asked to connect something new, we look at the whole picture first so the upgrade is done once and done properly.
Pools deserve a special mention. Pumps, chlorinators and heaters run for hours every day, and after decades the wiring and equipment enclosures around them are often in poor shape. A check of the pool circuit and its safety switch is quick and worthwhile.
Around the canals and Pine Lake, waterside homes also need outdoor fittings that can cope with damp air. Up in the hills the main concerns are storm exposure and long cable runs to lower-level rooms and garages.

Smoke Alarm and Safety Switch Requirements for Elanora Homes
Owner-occupiers have until 1 January 2027. If you have lived in the same Elanora house for years, the new smoke alarm rules may not have caught up with you yet. From the start of 2027 they will. Every bedroom needs its own photoelectric alarm, as does each hallway connecting bedrooms to living areas and every storey, and they must be interconnected. Homes sold or rented out since 2022 are already required to comply. Booking before the end-of-year rush is sensible.
One safety switch is not enough. A single safety switch on the power points was standard when most of Elanora was built. Current practice is to protect every final circuit, including lighting, air conditioning, the oven and pool equipment. If you rent the property out, a safety switch on power circuits is a legal minimum in Queensland. We can add protection to the remaining circuits, usually within the existing board or as part of an upgrade.

Local Electrician Near Elanora
Elanora sits in the middle of our southern Gold Coast run. We are also in Currumbin, Palm Beach and Burleigh Waters regularly, and closer to home in Banora Point.
If you manage a townhouse complex, ask about doing smoke alarm upgrades for all owners in one program. It is simpler to organise and keeps the paperwork in one place.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far away are you from Elanora?
Our base in Bilambil Heights is around 25 minutes from most Elanora streets. We are on the southern Gold Coast most days of the week.
My house was built in the 1980s. Does the switchboard need replacing?
Not automatically, but it should be checked. If it has no spare capacity, lacks safety switches on some circuits or shows signs of heat, an upgrade is worth doing, particularly before adding air conditioning, solar or a car charger.
What do the 2027 smoke alarm rules mean for owner-occupiers?
By 1 January 2027 your home needs interconnected photoelectric alarms in every bedroom, in hallways that link bedrooms with the rest of the house and on each level. They must be hardwired or have a non-removable ten year battery. Old ionisation alarms do not count.
Why does my pool pump keep tripping the safety switch?
Usually because moisture has found its way into the pump motor, the chlorinator or an outdoor outlet. We isolate each item in turn to find the culprit. Sometimes a new seal or a dry-out fixes it, and sometimes the equipment has reached the end of its life.
Can you do the electrical work for a kitchen renovation?
Yes. We coordinate with your cabinet maker and other trades, install circuits for the oven, cooktop and dishwasher, position the outlets and fit the lighting.
Do you install EV chargers in Elanora?
We do. We assess your switchboard and supply, recommend a charger to suit your car and driving, and install it on a dedicated circuit.
Can the work be done in stages?
Yes. Many customers start with the switchboard and smoke alarms, then tackle lighting and extra circuits later. We quote each stage separately so you can plan.
Are quotes free?
They are. You get a fixed written price with no obligation.
Do you hold a Queensland licence?
Yes. Blue Ridge Electrical is licensed for electrical work in Queensland and in New South Wales, and carries full insurance.
Can you add lighting and power to a patio or pergola?
Yes. We install weatherproof outlets, fans and lighting for outdoor rooms, run from a dedicated circuit so the fridge and barbecue do not affect the house.
